The Edmonton Oilers find themselves in a very familiar spot. After the first 9 games of this season, they sat at a shocking 5-3-1. Turn back the clock to 1 year ago, and the Oilers held the identical record. Continuing to look at last year's start, after the first 9 games, the oilers went a dismal 1-16-1 in their next 18. Will this season be a carbon copy of last? Well, since the identical 5-3-1 record, the Oilers have lost their last 2 games. Only 2 games, but nevertheless, it continues to be a carbon copy of last season. Will they possibly find a slightly better gear this season, or will the Lowly Oilers continue their losing record of last season? We're probably looking at the latter.
When asked about the overall direction of the team, GM Ramsey had this to say. “ Looking back at it all, when I took over this team, it had a decent foundation for the most part, tho there were some glaring cracks looking just ahead. It was still a nice place to come and give my shot at getting this team the pieces to hopefully take home the big prize. 2 pretty successful seasons but still not quite enough as we landed 2 wins short of the cup in my 2nd year of holding the reigns to the team. I decided, to the surprise of many, to liquidate the aging veterans and bring on an all out rebuild. I'm not one for halfway. I'm an all or nothing kinda guy. I'm really happy at how things are turning out. We've landed some very nice future pieces and hold a few extra picks for a talent riddled 2026 draft. I'm excited to see what the near future holds. Right now, it's been pretty fun watching this team come out of the gates this season, and playing some exciting hockey. It's a long grind and there's a lot of solid teams in the league so it's hard to say how long this might last, but in the meantime, we'll keep riding the wave. Would i change anything if I could turn back time? Nope, not for a second”.
