Offseason stars with a bang for the Canucks

Retool? Rebuild?
6/7/2026 • Jean Brisson

What to make of the last 2 years where they both ended at the hands of the stanley cup winners? Where to go from here?  I honestly dont know. All i know is having lots of talent means very little.  One area where this team was very thin was the prospect bin.  This team has a lot of talent on the roster and a lot of picks in the next 2 drafts.  the decision was made to trade current talent for kids to have a sustainable future.  As of today,  Gm Brisson intends to still compete next year.

"We made 2 big moves that definitely hurts our roster short term but we still have high end talent good enough to make another run at the cup. We lost high end talent but we've gained in other aspect"

The 2 big moves

Trade #1:

To Vancouver:  Josh Anderson - Adam Klapka - Shakir Mukhamadullin

To Boston: Travis Konecny

The plan was to get big bodies. Anderson 6'3 226lbs, Klapka 6'8 235lbs, Mukhamadullin 6'4 200lbs.   Moving the better player for depth usually isnt the best move but we felt we had enough fire power up front to cover the loss of Konecny.  Anderson, with 2 years left, will help cushion the blow.

Trade #2:

To Florida: Zach Werenski

To Vancouver: Michael Hage, Anton Silayev, Julius Miettinen

The big one!!!  How hard is it to trade one of the best def in the league? Not that hard when the offer includes one of your favorite hometown prospect.  Doesnt hurt when your 2nd D is Mo Seider.  In return, we get more size. Silayev, a former 10th overall pick who just signed his ELC with NJ brings a whopping  6'7 207lbs frame.  Unlike Silayev, Miettinen brings offensive upside alongside his 6'3 207lbs body.   As for Hage,  my new favorite asset, we get a solid 200 feet player, that competes hard and can play in all facets of the game.

We have other moves in the work but for now, this is it!  Management is very excited about the present and the future.
