We're back baby!!!
Welcome to the not new, also not improved, What's hot, what's not and who cares show. Every week, ill go through some of the good stuff, the bad stuff and some random stuff i wanna talk about that doesnt really matter. There is nothing personal in my rants so dont get all offended and stuff if im taking a jab at your team/trade/etc. or get offended, i dont care lol. I am also open to suggestion about changes or topics or anything that can make this a better show, or a less shitty one.
HOT - League participation
Quick shoutout to all the active gms. Whether its articles, trades, game recaps, jersey draws, Randall's donation to charity and Zach's shenanigans. Its nice to see everyone taking care of their team. Its also nice to see majority of the "tankers" seem to have a plan to become relevant.
HOT - Battle of the undefeated
Only 3 teams remain undefeated. The New York Shark.. i mean Islanders, the Philadelphia Flyers and Vegas Golden Knights. It's no surprise as they are all contenders for the cup. The Isles had 3 easy games so far and they dont see a quality opponent until their 6th game against the real sharks so they are my favorite to stay undefeated the longest. Vegas will once again face Calgary in a couple of days which could end the streak. Though the Flames have been playing their backup every game (more on that later), they might make it easier on vegas once again. Philly will face minny in 2 games. After just getting destroyed by Dallas who scored 9 goals on Dostal, Minny might be looking for a statement win when they visit the flyers.
NOT - Bruins
This bruins team wasnt expected to be a top tier team this year but was also not expected to be a basement team. It's still early but this start is a worst case scenario. 3 of the 4 losses were at home, and the away loss was against the capitals. Gm Bon Bernard has already made a move to try to right the ship. With some of improvement other teams in the atlantic have made since last year, the hole the Bruins have dug themselves into might already be too deep.
Honorable mention: Stl who also is winless
Who Cares - What is Calgary doing?
The flames were (still are) a top team in the league going into the season, having the top player and top goaltender is the perfect foundation to chase the cup. But as we've seen often in the sim world, Gms tend to move on from ufas in trying to stay good longer instead of better right now. I blame the sim for this, having top players doesnt guarantee success so why would a gm hold on to a ufa if that ufa wont do much of a difference vs the replacement player. Now whether the Flames are just recycling their ufas and bad contract or they're tanking for Mckenna, either way, its not a good look. Imagine if the real life Jets would move hellebuyck, and play their 3rd string every game. In the end, every gm can run their team as they please, im sure i could find something about every team to criticize including my own so who cares.
Thanks for tuning in,
Stay classy Dchl.
