Flyers Make Statement Win Over Isles

Brady Tkachuk knocked out of the game and onto IR
10/25/2025 • Josh Guertler

The Philadelphia Flyers made a statement win over their division rival New York Islanders during Saturday’s matinee game. Steven Stamkos scored his second goal of the season only 57 seconds into the game after a give and go with Mikhail Sergachev.

Captain Claude Giroux scored his first of the season off of Ryan McLeod’s rebound only 10 minutes later, the goal ended up being the game winner and was Sergachev’s 2nd assist of the game. Jake Sanderson had his first goal of the season on the power-play to wrap up the first period.

The rest of the game was all about Sergei Bobrovsky as the Islanders outshot the Flyers 22 to 14 through the second and third periods with “Bob” only giving up one goal and keeping his torrid start to the season going. Through 7 games, Bob has a 6-1 record, 1.27 GAA and a sparkling .950 Sv%.

The talk of the game however was Darnell Nurse’s hit on Brady Tkachuk that knocked the bruising forward out of the game and put him on the shelf the next few weeks. The Islanders had little to no response after the hit and went on to lose their second game of the season.
