PREDATORS FALL 2–1 IN OVERTIME TO PENGUINS

11/16/2025 • Neil Burkholder

Pittsburgh, PA — November 16, 2025

The Nashville Predators couldn’t complete home and home sweep in Pittsburgh, falling 2–1 in overtime on Evander Kane’s finish at 1:55 of the extra frame Sunday afternoon at PPG Paints Arena.

Despite a terrific outing from Tristan Jarry — who turned aside 30 of 32 shots for a .938 save percentage — Nashville’s offense dried up after an early power-play marker, leaving the Predators to settle for a single point.

Jankowski Opens the Scoring

Nashville struck first at 16:02 of the opening period when Mark Jankowski snapped home his third of the year on the power play. A clean zone entry by Robby Fabbri led to a crisp pass to Oskar Sundqvist, who found Jankowski sliding into space between the circles.

It was a textbook setup, and for a moment, it looked like Nashville’s special teams might carry the day.

But it would stand as the only puck to beat Joonas Korpisalo, who delivered one of his sharpest performances of the season for Pittsburgh.

Defensive Duel Through Two Periods

The second period saw no scoring but plenty of structure. Both teams kept the middle of the ice locked down, trading rushes but denying extended pressure.

Nashville’s penalty kill remained perfect, snuffing out all four Penguins power plays on the night — a bright spot in an otherwise quiet offensive showing.

Korpisalo, meanwhile, stole momentum multiple times, turning aside 27 of 28 shots and frustrating Nashville shooters, particularly during a late second-period push.

Stenlund Breaks Through, Sending It to the Third Tied

Pittsburgh tied the game at 10:43 of the third when Kevin Stenlund redirected a point shot from Shayne Gostisbehere past Jarry.

From there, both teams tightened up further. Nashville mustered only six third-period shots, while Jarry kept the Predators alive with clutch saves on Malkin and Marchment.

A late penalty to Brian Dumoulin forced Nashville into survival mode, and the penalty kill delivered, sending the game to overtime.

Kane Ends It Early in OT

Overtime was brief but costly.

Pittsburgh controlled the puck off the draw, generating a long cycle shift. Evgeni Malkin slipped a pass to Evander Kane cutting through the slot, and Kane roofed a quick release past Jarry at 1:55, sending the Penguins home winners and earning Pittsburgh the extra point.

Nashville skated off with a sense of opportunity lost — but also with a point earned in a game their goaltender kept within reach.

Jarry’s Strong Effort Not Enough

Jarry’s performance was one of his best of the season, showcasing calm rebound control and multiple high-danger stops.

Coach Lane Lambert praised him postgame:

“He gave us every chance. That’s all you ask from your goaltender. We needed one more play in front of him.”
